Dr. Charles Oloo K’Ochiel

Rev Dr. Charles Oloo K’Ochiel (PhD)is a Catholic Priest and a Canon lawyer, with a wide experience in spiritual and family matters on violence and abuse both in the church and family settings.He holds a Master’s degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Canon Law from Angelicum Pontifical University, Rome. He is a trained military officer who worked as the armed forces chaplain in Kenya from 1997-2001. He is a Judicial Vicar in Inter-Diocesan Tribunal of Kisumu where he handles both marriage and clerical cases in the dioceses of Kakamega, Bungoma, Kisii, Homabay and Kisumu Archdiocese. He also deals with matters involving abuse in various Religious Congregations here in Nairobi.currently, Rev. Dr. K’Ochiel is the Vice Rector and Dean of Students at St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary. In this connection, he has participated both in investigations of allegations that involve different crimes as well as given talks to clergy, religious, students and institutions on the offences. He has delivered keynote speeches on “the Role of the Church in Prevention and Countering Terrorism and violent Extremism”; “Counter Violent Extremism” and “Sexual Offence against Minors and Vulnerable adults in the light of Vos estis lux mundi”. He has published widely in the areas of law, spirituality and family life.
